Two more talk bookings just in for next year – both in Chesterfield, funnily enough – but bigger news is I’m going to prison. Not because I’ve finally been found out, but because I have been accepted as a volunteer with the Shannon Trust https://www.shannontrust.org.uk/ – a charity which does wonderful work in prisons to help more prisoners learn to read and write.
Nearly half of all prison inmates struggle with literacy, so their prospects of finding work after prison are further diminished, as is their self-esteem and their resilience in prison. First training day is in London next month. Very much looking forward to getting started.
